Nino Tandilashvili: COP29 - opportunity for South Caucasus countries to discuss regional challenges

COP29, which will be held in November in Baku, is an opportunity for the countries of the South Caucasus to discuss the challenges facing the region in the sphere of climate change, the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Nino Tandilashvili said, according to Report.

Speaking during the event "Financing Greener Value Chains in the CAREC Region (Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program)" within the framework of the 57th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Tbilisi, she noted that Georgia is trying to expand its green agenda.

"To address climate change, it is not only adaptation that is important, but also the implementation of new standards... COP29 is a great opportunity for the South Caucasus region to present the challenges we face," she said.

She recalled that Georgia received EU candidate status: "Our integration process has intensified, we fully understand all the responsibility that is entrusted to us."
