Fire in Aghsu and Shamakhi extinguished - UPDATED

"Fire in the mountainous areas of Aghsu and Shamakhi districts has been extinguished," Sanan Feyzullayev, department head at Aghsu District Executive Power, told Report.

"Security work is being carried out in the area," he said. "The fire was completely extinguished, but small and unnoticed embers and remnants of the hearth can cause a fire again. Therefore, the Ministry of Emergency Situations is taking the latest security measures in the territory."

Feyzullayev said no damage was recorded as a result of the fire.

The fire erupted in the mountainous area of the Aghsu region yesterday and spread to the Shamakhi region.

The Upper Shirvan Bureau of Report informs that the fire started on the side of Gagali village of Aghsu was extinguished with the help of firefighters and villagers.

However, the firefighting measures could not prevent it from spreading to the Shamakhi region. Currently, firefighting work is underway in the area.

A fire broke out on the north-western side of the Gegali village of Aghsu district, near the mountainous area called "El Yeri."

The Upper Shirvan Bureau of Report informs that bushes were burning in the mentioned areas starting 10:30 p.m yesterday.

Five fire engines and a large number of personnel from the Aghsu, Shamakhi, and Ismayilli fire departments of the State Fire Protection Service under the Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved in the scene.

The firefighter's team is currently struggling to extinguish the ongoing fire in off-road conditions and rugged terrain to prevent it from spreading to the forest areas in the mountains.
